About us

The Personal Development Giftshop is a free self help resource providing alternative pathways to happiness and success.

On these pages you'll discover surprising new techniques for:

  • growing spiritually
  • advancing your career
  • developing your personal mission.

Unlike many information resources on the internet, the Personal Development Giftshop is a real and evolving website written by real living beings.

Our aim is to offer visitors a unique, user-focused, growth-centred, big-picture-oriented personal development adventure.

Please note, we are an independent, private organisation and are not affiliated to any commercial, political or religious group.

At this point it might be helpful for you to know a little about our founders, Otis and Bruce.

About Otis
Seven years ago our co-founder Otis lost a leg in a road accident. This was the life-changing event that led him to become a personal development guru.

As a cat, Otis has adapted well to having only three legs. Indeed, he is acknowledged to be the number one three-legged personal development guru cat on the internet.

Otis gets his inspiration from two sources:

  • information he overhears while hanging out in offices at our local business center
  • wisdom he acquires while interacting with neighborhood cats, including the notorious Steinlen and Lowry.

He then communicates these ideas to Bruce, using cat-to-human telepathy.

About Bruce
Bruce is the Personal Development Giftshop’s webmaster and co-founder.

He has been described as part poet, part musician, part philosopher, part management consultant. Sacked from three major projects - in the retail, construction and telecommunications sectors - Bruce is now focusing more on personal development.

Says Bruce, “Basically, I’m an outdoors kind of guy. When I get the chance I like to spend time hiking through angry bear country. Sometimes, I'll make like I'm going to steal one of their cubs, just to test their reactions.

“I'll even strap lead weights to my chest and feet, so it’s more of a challenge if I have to climb a tree in a hurry. Sure it tilts the odds in their favor, but it also forces me to focus.

"In a way I feel I'm recreating how tough life would have been for my ancestors 30,000 years ago as they trekked across the plains of Uzbekistan and southern Siberia.”
